I was on a commonly used website when my internet shut down and a virus scan screen popped up. It then froze my internet acess. It then shut down my comp and all it will do now is open up a blank screen with a flashing underscore.
It won't open up in safe mode so now I am pretty stuck
Any ideas how i can sort this out???

I think I am doing something wrong as I am tried to download teh first one but cannot find it on my drive to send to disk - just a load of empty files.
When the screen pops up it asks to run, save or cancel the download. it won't save so i have run it, but still notgetting awaywhere
I am sorry if I come across stupid or have missed something obvious, but I knowlittle about computers and i'm just trying my best.0 -
Have you tried f8 or f12 you need to boot last known good configuration if this crashes then try safe mode do you have a good antivirus if all else fails you can get vista boot load from microsoft been a few years since i had this nightmare0

bios is usually hit del key or on some pc s f2 change boot device order you are telling the pc that when post has finished it is to boot your dvd drive as first boot device not hardrive and f 10 to save when finished change back
do not be afraid of the bios it will not change anything until you f10 but to be safe just find boot configuration
just found this looks like good advice
