Bridal Shops in S!!!!horpe

Hi guys,
I am trying to organise a day dress shopping with my mum. So far I have one shop that I definitely want to go to - Bride at Joan Antony, because there was a dress I'd seen on Alfred Angelo's US website and I've been impressed with the email contact I've had with them. But other than that I don't know where else to go.
So if there are any other Lincolnshire/Humberside brides about, where else would you recommend we visit?
Cheers!

I'm a sunny scunny bride!! The only other one I personally would recommend is The Bridal Design Studio. It's appointment only though so give them a ring first! I got my dress and bridesmaid dresses there. She doesn't stock Alfred Angelo or Maggie Sotero but she has some other lovely designers that I haven't seen at many places in the area. Also, I believe she makes things from scratch if needed and will also customise dresses if there's different bits you like on different dresses! There is also a lovely shop in grimsby called proposals, again I think you need an appointment.

    Thanks Lisa.
I'm actually from Louth, not Scunny, but the lady at Bride at Joan Antony was the only Alfred Angelo stockist in the area that replied to an email I sent out asking if the could source the dress off the US website. Hence why I'm definitely going there. (She can't get it but the fact she bothered to email me speaks volumes in my eyes). I'll send The Bridal Design Studio an email :) and get an appointment.

Next question - how much time does it take to try dresses on? I'm thinking an hour in each place? So in theory I could get a couple in at Scunny in the morning then take my mum somewhere else (probably Lincoln or Grimsby) in the afternoon.

Mosey over to the other side of the bridge for a day - Hornsea Freeport have a bridal shop there that stock last season designs, shop over buys, etc. Alfred Angelo and many other top designer brands for a fraction of the price. They also have a great range of bridesmaid dresses, hoops, veils, accessories and shoes.
My dress was £30 - not £3000 Dresses range in sizes too..
If your not too proud - stop off in Beverley at Dove House Charity Shop. They have a whole room full of wedding dresses - some are new - and mother of the bride outfits. So your hard earned pennies are going to a good cause.

I have emailed The Bridal Design Studio, and had a lovely email back so I'm looking forward to going there. (Thanks Lisa)

Has anyone had any experience of Nathalie French, Suzanne's Bridal Collection or Brides In Silk? Just these are all around the same area as The Bridal Design Studio and Bride At Joan Anthony where I've already planned on going.

    Thanks!

(Shellieholly -unfortunately I live in Louth, my mum lives in Lincoln so to get to Hornsea would be a bit of a trek. :) It'd take me up to 2 hrs to get there).

  • Just wanted to say Hi & thanks for starting the thread. I'm from between Louth & Horncastle, ( & wanting to get married in 'The Shire' ), but living in Hants atm, so your suggestions will really help me prioritise the precious time I have when I'm home. Will be watching with interest! =)

Oooo exciting!! (lol I really must calm myself - we're not actually getting married until July 2012 - lol at this rate I will literally burst before I get anywhere near the wedding date lol).

I am also thinking about visiting Anne Louise Bridal in Louth. I like to support local businesses as much as I can. The only headache is I'm a teacher so I'm doing all my organising during school hols, and I really want my mum and I to go dress shopping during the summer hols this year. (Then it gives them a full year to order and make any allterations). And there is only two saturdays during the summer hols that both me and mum can get together. It's also a headache cause as I've said above we don't really live near each other. (I'm waffling again).

Lol still this beats doing OU work.... lol yesterday I spend the day 'researching' wedding cakes!
  • We're going for 12th May 2012, but have yet to book, so fingers crossed. Have the churchwarden on my list to call today ( I understand they've been away). It's nice to 'meet' (on here) others from the area. Maybe we can share our excitement!?!

Suzanne's bridal is directly opposite The Bridal design Studio. She is more what I personally would call a 'budget' shop, I called in without an appointment and tried a few dresses on but nothing really struck me as being special. The design/quality matched the lower prices. I can be a bit of a snob though so others may well disagree lol! (Atleast I know my faults!!)

Brides in silk I didn't even bother looking at as I sometimes go there for sugarcraft supplies and they don't seem to have many sample dresses in and what I've seen on display looks fairly basic and/or old fashioned.

I think nathalie french is meant to be ok but I've not been theere myself. My hairdresser is getting her wedding dress from there though!

Sue at the bridal design studio is lovely. SHe's even coming to my house on the day to dress me! She does know my mum though. She won't let you buy a dress that doesn't suit you. there were several that I tried on that she said 'didn't like me'!! She offers a 10% discount if you pay in full when you order as well.

Oh that sounds brilliant Lisa!! :) It is funny - I've gone from "I'll just wear jeans and trainers to spending hours and hours drooling over pretty dresses"! I'm interested in your thoughts on Bride at Joan Anthony if you have any :) (Lovely to get unbiased opinions!)

I am proposing going to B@JA for 10am then going for lunch (any suggestions gratefully received) then going to BDS for 1pm. :) That way I can be really pampered. Lol will just have to make sure I don't eat too much at lunch so I don't bloat myself lol.
