wooden dowelling - where cheapest to buy ?

Hi,

i need 6 of 1 metre long by 6mm or 9mm dowels for a project. They can be wood ,plastic or metal. so far I've been to B&Q and Focus and they are £1.00 a metre.

Has anyone any ideas if i can get wooden one cheaper elsewhere ?
where would i buy plastic ones ?

thanks in advance for suggestions.

I know this will not help the OP, but it never ceases to amaze me the number of people who will travel all over to save a few pence on an item. Fair enough, if you are buying an expensive item and the savings can be great, then shop around, but as said, on a cheap item, any saving made will have been lost on fuel/public transport costs.

These guys might be fractionally cheaper for 6.5mm white birch but it's pretty marginal after VAT and postage, they do have a nice range of different wood types though and the shaker pegs are good!

    Exactly. Or on bus fares.....

How far away are the Focus and B&Q mentioned?

Why would you possibly travel to try to save money on something that you know you can buy for £6 anyway.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
