To make it feel more of a celebration or luxury trip why don't you book a stretch limo for your transfer to Manhattan? We did this once and it was only about 50% more than the cost of a regular transfer and felt really special. Likewise you could pay for access to the executive lounge dependent on the ages of your children (some lounges have age restrictions) which would upgrade your experience much more affordably.
  • ok, I've rang up BA and they priced up a club world there and economy back with Marriott marquis, £9000 for 4 people, is that a good price?
  • Bloomin heck; just go economy and get a better hotel and book the airport lounges for a treat.

Have you any idea how cold it is in New York in December?
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

Impossible to say without pricing up each element. For me, I just would not pay £9000 for a trip to New York.

The OP should be aware that, if flying from T5, they can only use lounges if they have BA status or they are flying in Club or First.

If the OP is still interested

Best way to fly First (apart from someone else paying :D)
is to to pay by FF miles.

Look at Flyertalk to see how to get miles from Credit cards (Amex have a good offer)

TBHO kids will not appreciate First class ( and neither will your fellow passengers. ;))

as Dmg says, fly business, still comfortable and a LOT cheaper

I have to admit my only time in First was thanks to a very generous friend ... and he wasn't even travelling! ;)

The other thing as well is that First on some airlines\route\aircraft is not as good as business on others.

    NZ Business is ;)
    Lufthanasa First is

Need to look at FT to see what you're paying for.

Absolutely, I flew First (or La Premiere) with AF. The onboard product is not perfect, but I had the cabin to myself so it was pretty special. Having said that, the lounge and service at CDG is out of this world.

I am due to fly NZ business in November ... Looking forward to it!

  • Hi
Does anyone know whens best to book flights to NY/holidays on exp to new york for september? They're well pricey now but i read elsewhere that its good to wait 3 months before to check prices then (as sometimes go down-that would also be july which i read is a good time to book as alot of people on their hols then/planning for (so not booking).
Was planning to go in march originally (mid march) as i can get a better hotel/stay for 4 vs 3 nights but someone said the weather was really grey-is this true? If i wanted to go in march 2012 when would i book flights for then? (december or jan sales?)
Anyone tried the paramount or the roosevelt?
    Greatly appreciated
    HHHHHHx
  • For a March Flight Early January is normally a good deal.March is normally one of the cheapest times to fly to New York .3 months before is a good time normally but can differ and go up if flights get full.
