Lidl or Tesco cheaper?

Aldi/lidl can also be cheaper for another reason, you are less likely to buy stuff on impulse eg in tesco you might plump for a nice cake, chocolate etc but the discounters dont stock as wide range of foods compared to tesco and all, well thats my theory0

Where I live there is a Tesco a mile to the east and another a mile to the west! Until recently there was no discount supermarket in town, but a Lidl has recently opened. So I did my list on mysupermarket & printed it out. It shows the prices, so I then went to Lidl to do my shopping and could compare the prices immediately. I am very impressed with Lidl, for example 6 free range eggs for 85p (£1.58 Tesco), mozzarella ball 47p (89p Tesco), onions 59p a kilo (82p a kilo Tesco).
For an idea of quality and price I would recommend reading this:
http://supermarketownbrandguide.co.uk/lidl.php
It’s a one man band taste testing own brands against branded products. Not everything has been tasted yet, but it you click on the go link there is a list of 223 Lidl products, most of which have been tasted.
yes i remember coming across that site or similar 1 a few years ago but i forgot the name of it0 -
Lidl is cheaper everytime. Bulk buy the weekly offers which start on a Thursday and pop in over the weekend fir their weekend only offers. Check out their website for current deals before you go. The weekend offers are available to view online from Thursday.:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

I shop around everywhere for a bargain, but if I had to choose between Lidl & Tesco then it's have to be Lidl every time. I wouldn't really touch Tesco with a barge pole, unless of course there was a magnificent offer on.0

Am I going crazy, but I have done this numerous times with my 'normal' Tesco shopping list - comparing prices in Lidl - and I cannot find ANYTHING cheaper!!! Does it only work if you bulk buying? Well, tortilla wraps are a little bit cheaper but you get 6 instead of 8
Also mysupermarket.co.uk does not compare like for like. If you add 'value' cashews to your Tesco basket, it will not add 'Smartprice' cashews to your basket in Asda.
Anyway - I'm off to Lidl & Aldi again now to do my price comparison again!0 -
Going back to the original question, I find that Lidl's washing up liquid is as good if not better then fairy. The W5 stuff in the blue bottle is amazing and the last time I bought some it was 59p!! Other cleaning products i've used are Lidl's foam oven cleaner, I used it for the first time last week and it covered the bottom of the oven in a light foam and after an hour I wiped away all the grease with a damp cloth in one wipe
I have also used Lidl's stain remover in a bottle, very good stuff .... and there washing powder and liquid detergent again as good as Daz and Surf. If you are also a fan of Pantene or Loreal, I would try Lidl's Cien conditioner as it makes my hair as shiney and light at 79p a bottle.

Lidl's degreasing spray in an Orange squeezy bottle is a fantstic all round cleaner and will shift any amount of dirt.
Also Avocados in Lidl yesterday were 39p compared to 77P in Tescos- The lidl ones are actually ripe.0 -
Aldi 1.4 kg fresh chicken £2.99 (from UK) is a pretty good deal imo, much better quality than tesco.
I am lucky in that I have farmfoods, aldi , lidl and tesco close. Only thing I buy from tesco now is bogofs and specials0 -
We're lucky, we have a Lidl and Farm Foods close (4 tins of chopped tomatoes for £1 at FF, great value:)) Aldi isn't too far away either, although there was one very close but closed a few moneths back because a new Asda opened close by
I do go to asda and Tesco too, but usually just to get what I can't at the others!0
