Will having my banking registered at my parents address affect my credit rating?

I live in London but all my banking is registered to my parents address in Cumbria.

I am looking to make a mortgage application and wonder whether having two different addresses will affect this at all.

Any advice would be appreciated.

If all your banking is registered at that address, why not use that one for the application? If you have some registered there and some at your current address, it may be better to get everything under the same address. Which address are you on the electoral roll at? Have you checked your credit reports to see what they show in regards to your addresses?
  • Are you on the electoral roll at any address?

    Why are you doing this?
  • I am on the electoral register at my london address.

I did it because i live at my london address i do not have my own letter box (flats with a main front door for everyone) and did not want my bank statements going missing.

You will want to have every account you hold registered at the same address, and the address they are registered at must be the address you are registered to vote at.

Also remember that it is a breach of terms to not advise the bank of your current address.

Register all of your accounts at your current address otherwise you aren't going to be getting a mortgage, worse, you are liable to be found out for breach of T&C and potentially fraud if the bank are feeling paticularly narky.

I live at an address with a shared mailbox. I opt out of paper statements and have debit cards issued to the branch rather than my shared mailbox although I've yet to have any mail go missing even though the people in the other flats are all alcoholic reparobates...

  • I was searching for crucial information on this subject.

Wow. You HAVE been busy post building, haven't you? 54 today and still climbing...

    Reported.
  • OP - why not register for online banking and turn off paper statements.
  • I've been having some trouble with post in a similar situation. Royal Mail do a free service where you can collect your post from the delivery office instead (have only just sent off the form, so I don't know how well it works yet): http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/jump2?catId=79500736&mediaId=48100695

Or, for a fee, you could get it redelivered to your parents.
