Can't join BF2 or 2142 games

Recently got a Netgear DGN1000 router replacing a Speedtouch modem.

Can play new games such as MW1 & 2 (2 says NAT open) & Bad Company 2, but when I try BF2 or 2142 I can connect to EA's master server and get the server list, but when I try to connect get a message "You have failed to connect. Please check your network connection(s) and try again."

As a noob when it comes to routers I thought it was me (had already opened the ports for the game) & had a m8 who knows what he's doing to look into the settings via remote access.

After a few hours, which included him setting up a server & trying to connect to that I'm still no closer.

Will run malware scan in a min, but can you look at the hijack this log for now.

More than likely something to do with Norton. Worst piece of AV ever invented. Causes more problems than it solves.

It seems too obvious to be true but have you reopened all the ports that were available on the previous modem? If you put the old modem back on can you reconnect?

It's not the system that is at fault, so there is no point running Malwarebytes. It's a problem with the router.

You aren't the only one with this problem, you have to manually configure the router firewall to allow connection to the EA servers.

I have a PS3 and I had a weird problem in that no matter what I did with the router or any other settings, I couldnt connect to an EA game (1942 I think)
Going online I found that signing into another EA game can sometimes rectify the problem
I downloaded a boxing demo and signed into EA servers and all of a sudden my game worked again

I did a malwarebytes scan (as i do @ least once a week) & it found nothing

Port forwarding & firewall rules are two completely separate animals.
You can port forward all you like, unless you tell the firewall to allow the incoming traffic as well then it's not going to get to you unless UPNP is enabled and working - which it obviously doesn't for you in this particular case.

FWIW, there are known issues with the DGN range of Netgear routers where the NAT table can't cope with multiple connections using UPNP.
You can either wait for a firmware update (if there isn't one already), or buy another router that doesn't have that issue.

All outgoing traffic as allowed by default, it's only in incoming ports i've opened, with my router you first create a service (port(s) number & either udp or tcp) then you add the serive to firewall rules.

I disabled Norton's firewall when I changed from the modem to the router.
