Hi,
I have been getting quotes to swap my old heating system for a new condensing combui boiler and I have had 3 back so far, all 3 are around the same price but I was just wanting someone who may have more knowledge to look over them to see if they are fair...

Removal and disposal of existing boiler and cylinder, install new 22mm gas main from front to rear of house, install new Atmos HE 32 boiler with vertical flue, make good any holes, add inhibitor and commison system
Apolgies for the length of this post! I'm hoping someone with some knowledge can take a look at the 3 quotes and tell me if there is anything out of the ordinary as this is the first boiler I've ever had installed so I'm a bit clueless.
Thanks in advance and look forward to your replies

Good evening: at first glance, gas supply in Quote 1 would be undersized. Would recommend Honeywell CMT 927 wireless programmer and a Magnabooster 2 filter. Can't comment on the price.
My OH fits Viessmann as his first choice and Remeha as a buget option (Vaillant if requested by customer). Make sure the installation is Benchmarked and notified to Building Control. More advice available here.
As always...a boiler is only as good as it's installation and annual servicing.

As they are not taking this you will need to decide beforehand what to do with it so I would check with your local council what provisions they have in place.
Also if you choose this quote when they remove it make sure it is correctly bagged etc and not just dumped to spread the dust.

Hi Canucklehead,
Thanks for the reply. Are you thinking the same as in quote B that the supply should be in 28mm?
Thanks for the info on the regulations regarding building control, i'll have a look at those now as only one of the quotes actually mentions this which is slightly worrying!
Currently I'm sat in waiting for the guy who was meant to be here at 12pm to do a quote :mad:0 -
Well the guy eventually turned up and has given me the quote straight away, his quote was...
- To remove old boiler & tanks and install new worcester bosh 24i juniour combi with 5 year warranty £1540
- New rad & pipework in kitchen 600x400 d/c £120
- New rad to existing pipewirk in bathroom 00x700 d/c £80
- 5 TRVs + 7 lockshields (for existing radiators) £120
- Supply & fit vertical flue £300
- Power flush £100
- Gas pipe upgrade to 22mm £130
- Programmable room stat £f.o.c
Optional extra of magna clean filter £100 making £2375 in total
Or same as about but with Viessmann Vitodens 100w 30kw boiler for £2350 with 5 year warranty
I'm tempted to go with this quote and take the viessmann option but i'm a bit wary as its £500 cheaper than the others...0 -
From your choices the Atmos would be the one to go for.0

quote 1 sounds like the gas supply is undersize and mentions a chemical flush as opposed to a POWERFLUSH. Worcesters 5 year warranty is worthless if it is not powerflushed. you must also have the boiler serviced every year to keep the warranty running.
My advice is the Vaillant - you wont even need the 2 year warranty with this one! In the last 3 years i have been to 2 that have broken down and both of these were because the system wasnt cleaned out so the muck blocked up the heat exchanger0 -
sounds expensive to me for a boiler swap, apreciate there is a vertical flue, the gas pipe should be upgraded to 28mm then reduce too 22mm within 5/6 meters of boiler, salus control are rubbish, stick to honeywell, I think worcester are over rated but thats my opion they just dont float my boat, there are better value for money boilers out there like baxi/potterton, yes worcester offer 5 yr warranty, If the boiler has been installed correctly and flushed properly and an inline scalemaster installed then the boiler should go 5 yrs with no problems, as I have installed loads of baxi/potterton boilers over the years and 95% have gone 5yrs without a problem the other 5% where minor things. And thats all I have to say about that.0
