Hi,
I moved into this house last sept 2010 and we called edf to give our meter readings. We pay via a fixed rate monthly direct debit of £40 (based on house size).
We've had a couple of meter readings already.
I only just realised in feb however (yes I know its been four months
) that our electric bill was showing £160 in credit. I called them and queried this not remebering our figure for our first reading and it turns out the meter has never worked since we moved in.
Its now been replaced but what im asking is how do they calculate our bill from when we moved in as we have no historical usage to estimate it from?

they will take the first reading from the new meter then take a reading in a month or so and base you bill on you current usage. So they will estimate from september to when the new meter was fitted based on your usage now.0

Not quite right they'll take into consideration the average for the household it would be unfair to charge you for winter rates usage rates since September.0
