Does this boiler quote sound expensive?

We've recently got a baxi back boiler in our 4 bed home.

We had British Gas round yesterday who quoted £3,100 for removing the old boiler, flushing out the system, putting a new boiler on the wall in a cupboard behind the airing cupboard (in one of the bedrooms) and fitting a 'filter' on the outside wall of the house.
The pipe work would be connected to the emersion tank and pipe work in the airing cupboard (through the wall into the cupboard in the bedroom)?

Good evening: what is the full specification of the installation?

    Canucklehead
Ask to see CIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering)
  • I had a full central heating system fitted for less than that in a 4 bed room home, admittedly you will get piece of mind with british gas but still do not accept the first quote I would get a couple of quotes from good independent companies aswell but do your homework and make sure they have the certificates etc
  • Too expensive,do what pompey above says and get a few good independant heating engineers out to give you a few more prices before deciding.

So what boiler are they proposing to fit?
You will almost certainly find that any local independent GSR RGI will come in at least 30% less than BG. Get at least 2 more quotes.
