DLA, and carers what are they entitled to?

hi, just need to know if anybody knows what a carer can be entitled to or my family as im a carer and my son is receiving middle -high rate dla, also im receiveing full whack carers allowance but ive heard on the lines of a needed holiday to bring your family back as a family ( only for those who are receiving dla, carers allowance) is this true or is somepeople are ripping the system and getting away with it ( for now!) family funds looking positive but...... can anyone give me any advise on this as its tearing my family apart as i dont know what else i can do xx much appreciated xx thanks xx:T:T

There are various things, financial and otherwise which you are entitled to if you receive DLA or are a Carer. Have a look at the links below, plus have a look at your local council's website as they have local schemes to help you.

Many councils run a grant system for carers - your social worker should know about it if there is one in your area. It's normally a limited pot, so best to apply at the beginning of the financial year, but they can normally be claimed for help towards home maintenance that the caring role makes difficult to do yourself, and for respite breaks with or without the cared-for person. It won't pay for everything - grants in my area are between £100 and £250 a year, and receipts have to be provided else the money repaid, but every little helps.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0
