How to Get Through The Tough Times The Old Style Way.

Butterfly brain - I have no problem with the council decision to allow free travel 24/7. I just wish people would not complain about a packed bus when they have the option to travel at other times.
I am well aware that lots of people don't have the option. They, usually, are not the ones complaining. They put up with it like everyone else.
I was not having a go at the disabled, or suggesting that they worked nights to free up transport for others. Incidentally I used to work nights myself until January this year - and I know that there is no public transport available at that time! I had to rely on lifts from a workmate - which is a less than ideal situation. Not everyone has someone they can rely on to provide transport. So I am glad the buses are there - for everyone - not just the vocal few.
I shall bow out now as I have no desire to get caught up in an internet row or cause the thread to be closed down again.:(SMILE....they will wonder what you are up to...........;)0 -
Disabled people who work often incur extra expenses or are unable to work full-time so are very often disadvantaged financially. I disagree that free bus travel is a perk. I agree with Butterfly Brain that a bit of consideration from fellow travellers would be much appreciated in these tough times.I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
No buses in my village after 8pm or on a Sunday and no footpaths or cycle paths to next big village. Just small country lanes used as rat runs so very hairy. I used to start work at 7.30 am 13 miles away and was asked by my Boss why I needed a car and car parking space.C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z Able Archer0

Went into tescos today, good offers on most of the items I wanted, also Homepride flour half price at 50 p, now thats good deal........:D
Went to pick up a new tesco direct catalogue and the whole lot had gone... got myself a half price swede and guess what I ate the whole one for tea :eek: and a weight watchers hot pot.......it was beautiful...:D.......
Had quite a few offers on with toilet rolls too, I only buy loo rolls when they are on offer, I do really stock up then , that way I never pay the normal price as I find it so expensive.........
Tesco do their own brand of ready brek and it taste so creamy and lovely its only £1.29 a box...........
I know when I had my boys small Id get through boxes of cereal , it never seem to go far, it must cost mums a fortune to feed their children at breakfast time, they always want different cereals................so much packaging too......
Well I hope your all doing okay and and getting through these hard times the best you can.....At least we can turn the heating off the last week during the day, its warming up a bit now.......and able to get the washing dry on the line and it smells so fresh too......:D0 -
Day off today as had appointment with dentist to start work on replacement for broken crown.
Before treatment I went to reception and asked if I could prepay part of the charge so it wouldnt be such a big lump to stump up at the end of the month - I asked how much it would be (I'm a NHS patient) . . . . . .
. . . . £198.00
for one flippin tooth!!  sheeeesh!
Paid £50 today so have another £148.00 to find at the end of the month. Guess the work trousers will have to hold out until I get paid at the end of April as this dental bill is going to wipe out all my spare cash (and more) for the rest of this month and all of next . . . . . daren't ask how much it would be if paying privately.
Looking on the bright side - still keeping the faith on the 'nothing new' pledge :rotfl: Sorted through my wardrobe and fished out all the clothes that I haven't worn for ages as too big/small/long/short and am now busy OS remodelling - keeps me busy, away from the biscuit tin in the evenings and getting some extra outfits for free
Some days (and today in particular) I long to be just a little bit rich!:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

I do this. the time I ordered about 200 loo rolls is still sniggere at in my house. I get a bit worried if we have fewer then two dozen spare loo rolls...thinking iced in or me too ill to get the shopping done...so I buy IN BULK. Its become almost a guilty secret, my loo roll buying:o:D0 -

Thats good news Mardatha. Its been quite warm here today. Been to Mr M for the 30p fruit and veg but missed the eggs - mind you 30p for eggs goodness knows who can produce 6 eggs for that price?? I am getting free range off the market for 1.10 so prefer that. Also got a bag of bread flour from the whoopsies for 69p. All in all had a good day but its increasingly on my mind about petrol etc with all the conflict in the Middle East. And sad for the people of Japan - but we may soon find it affects us too in other ways.Clearing the junk to travel light
