Because turkey is slightly less wealthy than the uk people tend to hold on to everything so for the bigger sized places they manage to fill them up!-my wife hordes books by the 100's -as a school we get books free from the reps so it really isnt necessary to hord at home.--her mother is the same so it runs in the family!-dd is chocker with clothes in her room!
What they do that gives extra space is build kitchen cupboard etc and bedroom furniture right up to the ceiling and fill it very neatly to the brim!-myself i have 1 small wardrobe and 2 drawers for my entire world-whereas dh has a study and dressing room with 3 wardrobes for her necessities.-my flat in the uk is virtually devoid of any personal stuff now-i have dumped it all because i never used itmfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -
I have that and it's good, I agree, but virus protection doesn't always catch trojans. (one reason why you should never pay for antivirus because they are pretty narrow in their definitions of what constitutes a virus and the paid for version is usually no better than the free one in that regard)
Malwarebytes is specifically designed to catch trojans and data miners/ keystroke loggers. Spybot Search and Destroy used to be the best one but I gather it isn't quite what it was and Malwarebytes is what everyone recommends to get rid of this type of thing. You can run it alongside your existing antivirus, no problem. These trojans are very sophisticated and the pop ups look just like official Windows ones. Also get lots of advice on the utilities threads where the techies lurk
Not sure exactly what Trojan horses are (apart from the Greek one) but you can also get a free software called rapport I got mine because when I went on my bank account they always offered it to me to my annoyance. Now every time I put a password and name into an internet site it points out if it is being used by me for another site this is warning in case the site you are using is not the correct one. Also am I right in thinking that a firewall is supplied by Microsoft (must be updated regularly)and what does this actually do. I am told by computer expert that Linux is a replacement for Microsoft and is free and quicker? Plus it does not need antivirus Anyone used it?0 -

If I were being cynical, I would say a Trojan is a bug that your anti-virus software doesn't stop (ah, well, you see, it's a Trojan, not a virus)
I think (but I'm no expert) the difference is that a Trojan hides in something (hence the name) and then installs itself on your computer but doesn't do anything to your files and documents, it's trying to scam you either directly into paying money to a dodgy site by making you think there is a problem with your computer, or indirectly. Either that or it takes over from Google and every time you do an internet search it takes you to some - ahem - sites you don't want your children to see. A virus, on the other hand, can totally wipe out all your files at worst, or infect anything you send on.It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
The biggest trouble i have had on my pc is due to downloading upgrades to my supposed anti virus provider and it infact being a virus that is diguised as an upgrade!--i hate viruses and 9 out of 10 are originated by providers of anti virus touters wanting to push you into their 'arms'mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0

I think the key to living in a small space is quite simply having less "stuff". Hubby and I wouldn't move into a bigger place even if we could, the only dream we might have one day is building our dinky unit on its own piece of land.
When people start looking for "storage solutions" it occurs to me it's generally a bit easier to get rid of the stuff instead. If we tried to cram a normal home with its normal contents in here we'd be living in hell. If something isn't used for 6 months in our house (barring the Xmas tree) it's gone. If I purchase a replacement for something, I get rid of the original. We have a one in one out rule.
I'm a bit fanatical about living with less. And actually enjoy reducing what I own. But then I always was a freak :rotfl:
Softstuff Can I send my OH to you for a week's Boot Camp training in "how to live with less?". He's the world's worst hoarder and our loft is crammed with things "that might come in useful one day".
The trouble is, when we do need something from up there, it's been there so long we've forgotten we've had it anyway, or it's become obsolete along the way. He develops an emotional attachment to things, even when they're so shabby they're beyond repair.
And all this clutter makes cleaning a nightmare. I just love to whip round empty surfaces with a duster so all this "stuff" makes housework a lot harder when I'd rather be doing something more productive.0 -

So in effect, I could afford to take a job nearer to home with £200 less in my pay packet. All the other benefits will need to be added up though, especially long term job security, which I have at the moment, being employed by one of the larger, and still growing employers in the country. Its a hard choice though.
Can you move closer?
Long journeys are now quite pratical on a power assited bicycle using a Lithuim battery, although I would take the runnig distances they claim with a pinch of salt they can still get you a good 25 miles with a top brand. Recharging at work? Some also have power only option IE no need to pedal (but must have pedals to be legal).0 -
Hello all
Just a quick post and you all probably know this already but I've only just discovered it. Anyway I've been having trouble with grey scum in the washing machine and evidently it's best to use boxed powder instead of concentrates and liquids. One lady had called out the engineer to be told this. So to clear out the machine put in either a cup of Bi carb or white vinegar and run on the usual cycle. This cleans the machine and leaves it smelling fresh. Off to try it next.
Was up in the roof yesterday getting down the cot as the new mattress arrives on Wednesday (the old one been up in the roof for 18yrs so DH having that for kneeling jobs or laying under car, excellent recycling). So cute that DGS will be in his Mums old cot. Anyway found pile of clothes SIL had sent for him which seemed so big just 6 months ago. Half of them fit him now  6 month old baby in 9-12 month clothes. Also brought down collection of toys some over 30 yrs old. So all, never get rid of baby equipment or toys, before you blink the next generation have arrive.
DH was busy repairing fence panels yesterday. Four top rails had broken over the winter so he replaced them with roofing battens and they're as good as new. Roofing battens are a must have in our household as we've made fences to stop dogs going through hedges, trellises, fruit cages, props and soon to come gates to stop DGS going into pond section. Excellent value (especially if you know a roofer) & pressure treated so don't rot so easily.
Thank you all for your posts, you're inspirational."It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are." Unknown0 -

Yep, that's it! Was it called Security Tool? But if you do pay them it doesn't quietly pack up and leave so don't be tempted.

Is this the sort of inspiration you were looking for?"Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718
