Student Loan repayment - Evidence of further study.

Options
I recently got a letter from the SLC about a change of details and asking me what I'm doing now. I said that I was attending a further study course and attached a note explaing that I don't recieve any funding or loans and that I'm living off my savings and have no income from employment. Anyway, I recieved a letter back saying that I need to send documentary evidence of means of subsistence, I've tried calling them to see what sort of info I can send them but I haven't got anywhere.
Does anyone know what sort of evidence would be acceptable in these circumstances?
Thanks!

Bank statements are usually the best way of proving you're living off savings. Have a look at the FAQs on the SLC repayment website:

If your living off savings then it would need to be over £10,000. Are your parents or others offering you any support such as bed and board while your studying? Ifyou receive any type of support then a letter from the individuals stating they are supporting you while your studying will also be accepted by SLC.
  • Seriously?! I have nowhere near that much, it's just all I'm living off after my little part time job finished. I'll just have to send it off and see what they say this time. Thanks.

Providing you've got enough to pay all your bills - rent, gas, electric, water, TV license, council tax, tuition fees, plus have money for food/travel - all of which I'd have thought would show on a bank statement you should be ok.
If you don't have enough to pay all these things then you'll have to show how you are affording it i.e. if your parents providing board they'll need to supply a letter to state thats what they're doing.

Thanks, the savings I have cover all those things and should do so (in theory!) until September so will gather and send off a few statements showing that. Thanks for your help.
