Is it correct that dla will finish upon retirement at age 65 years when it changes over to the new pip in 2013?

Hi
not sure of your question. Dla will be replaced by PIP in 2013 ( I think that date is correct). In 2013 all new claims will be for PIP not DLA and then there will probably some sort of transfer of existing claimants over to PIP just like Incapacity to ESA. The transfer will happen regardless of what age you are at the time. The Cabbage

i think the question being asked is.....
currently if you claim DLA before the age of 65 you continue to receive it after the age of 65. will the PIP payments stop at 65?
that is how i understood the question......sorry if i'm wrong!0 -
Yes, the bill actually says PIP ceases at age65/state retiremnet age whichever is the higher
In fact the Consultation document said things would stay the same as DLA
"10. Support will continue to be provided to children and adults up to the age of 65. Individuals who receive the benefit before reaching 65 may continue to receive Personal Independence Payment if their needs continue. We will keep the upper age limit for receiving the new benefit under review, given the changes being made to the State Pension"
also "AGE: The majority of people receiving DLA are aged 16 to 64. This reflects the DLA rules whereby all recipients have to be aged under 65 on application, but may retain an award of DLA beyond 65 provided conditions of entitlement continue to be met.It is proposed that these arrangements will continue under the new benefit. This is justified as we recognise that many people who have become disabled earlier in life have had fewer opportunities to work or save for later life."
So, the consultation finishes today, yet the bill has been published saying something completely different!!!!! I have already sent an email in response to consultation expressing my disgust as any respondents to the consultation have been seriously misled. :mad:0
