Hi everyone
I am a newbie....or am I?? No, I'm not. I am an oldie. I have been on this forum for 5-6 years but wanted to have a different username as I felt that my old one was too recognisable and I didn't want any of my family to stumble across it as they don't know about my debts. There is a clue in my username as to who I was (or still am!!).
Anyway, I am nearly 30 years old (in April) and I live with my OH. We have been together for 10 years next month but he only moved in back in November last year so we are having come teething problems (mainly to do with getting a new bed) but I'm sure we will be ok in the end.
I am self-employed and work from home. I gave up my office job of 8 years in April last year to assist my health as I have a serious illness.
My debt levels are very high (just under £40k - all unsecured). This is mainly to do with going off the rails about 10 years ago and wasting a lot of money on holidays, cars, clothes and other stuff. I really need to start making progress on clearing this debt as it doesn't feel that I have done much at all with it. Most of my debts are with DCAs and I am paying what I can on them. Now that my OH has moved in, I'm hoping that once I have got myself sorted then I can start paying massive chunks of debt off each month.
So there is some background on me and I'm sure people who regularly read my previous diary will have worked out who I am by now.
Over the next few days, I am going to get together all that I owe (scary!!) as I'm not really sure of the real figure anymore. I am also going to put them in my signature which I didn't do before. Prepare to be shocked!!

Well I did my signature but it's not showing up at the moment so I guess a newbie needs a few more posts before it gets displayed on posts. I owe just under £38k which is slightly less than I thought.
OH and I went bowling last night with some friends. It cost £22 for 2 games for both of us - I was shocked!! It's been years since I went bowling but didn't realise that it was so expensive these days. Luckily OH paid as it was his mate's birthday. I also dodged buying any drinks so it was a free night out for me.
I sold my bed last week and the couple collected it yesterday. They paid £75. We have to get a king sized one as a double wasn't big enough. We have a king sized mattress already and are sleeping on that for now.
I spent £20 of the bed money on a desk for the bedroom so that I have somewhere to sit and work when OH is watching TV in the living room. I have also won a chair on eBay for £10 to go with it and will collect that on Wednesday.
I've got a few bills to pay next week, £60 in total. Most of that is from the bed money. Leaves me with about £35 to last me until the beginning of March. I will be able to withdraw £10 from Jackpotjoy tomorrow and I've got a few bits on eBay that finish tonight and all have bids (should get about £10 after fees and postage). I should be able to manage on that until pay day (end of first week in March usually).

Thanks Lou :Axxx
My signature is showing now. I received a delightful letter this morning from a DCA saying they now have my Lloyds TSB credit card. It's nearly £1,300 and they said I can clear it for just under £900. I said if I had that kind of money just lying around then I wouldn't be in debt. Just offered them the same payments the other DCA was getting and they agreed.
Withdrew my £10 from Jackpot Joy this morning and I managed to get £15 from eBay by the time I took off postage and fees. I've got some more stuff to list on there so will do that over the next week.
Haven't spent any money today (apart from paying some bills) and went to the library to get a couple more books.
Working tonight and OH offered to get some shopping in seeing as he has been munching into my stuff lately.

Hi emzilla,
I detect a strong air of determination in your posts. All the best with your debt busting.

Hi Polka Purpura, ColleenPamela & Little Pickle - thanks for stopping by :A.
I have paid the rest of my bills for this month. £50 of which were off debts so I'm £50 closer to being debt free. I've got £40 to last me a week, £10 of which I am spending on that chair from eBay (collecting tonight).
I posted my eBay items off today and remembered that I got a Pantene conditioner a few weeks ago that had a money back guarantee on it so I have sent off to claim for that. £4 is £4 after all.
We have been invited for a meal out tonight. OH said he really wanted to go so I told him he would have to pay or we can't go.

It kind of worked. He paid for the meal (which was £30) but we ended up going in my car and I had to put £20 petrol in (the restaurant was miles away ).
