Bank account before bankruptcy

My only worry would be that they would suddenly close it after a time, I have read on the forum of accounts remaining open for months after BR to suddenly be closed, I guess it all depends how they feel at the time, or if they do periodic credit checks?BSC 343 - AD March 2012

Personally I wouldn't take the risk. If they are not one of your creditors then it might be ok.
My suspicion is that if the or doesn't advise them then the account won't be closed. I'd be surprised if they check against the insolvency register.
they can...and and DO check the london gazette as well
they very rarely allow an undischarged BR an account...afterwards however they seem to accomodate happilyu enoughWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -

It's a consistency story again isn't it phil. I know lots of people who haven't had their accounts closed and equally others that have. What one bank does another may not. In fact there seems to be inconsistency even within the banks.
That's why I'm happy to stick with co-op. I find the service excellent apart from the lack of available balance on Internet banking.

Personally I would not risk it with the Natwest, not when there are 2 suitable and BR friendly accounts to use.:pB&SC No. 298

I rang the general phone number to see if it would be a problem0

It would be helpful if i could as then i can get my wages put in there and all DD's set up rather then panicking at the last minute trying to get all the bills paid etc.
Any help appreciated!
Had a abbey a/c didn't owe them anything.
the account and money in it was frozen,
so i would tread very carefully if i was you.
good luck0 -

motherb, well done on being able to keep the account that is good news for you. Unfortunatly as has been demonstrated on this board a 1000 times is it is not consistent and what one gets, another won't and there appears to be no rhyme or reason to it. We have had several times had distressed posters posting that the account that they had been told would be safe by the bank has several month later been frozen with the persons wage/benefit in it and non accessable. The safe thing is to open one of the 2 accounts that we know to be safe and if you get to keep the other account then that is a bonus.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
sorry dont mean to put anyone off other accounts
