Bank account before bankruptcy

We are in the steps of going bankrupt and hope to do this in March. At this moment in time i have just one question. Can i get away with opening the Barclays basic account before going bankrupt and not get it frozen?
It would be helpful if i could as then i can get my wages put in there and all DD's set up rather then panicking at the last minute trying to get all the bills paid etc.
Any help appreciated!

Are Barclays one of your creditors?:pB&SC No. 298

Nope, Nor are Co-Op so i could effectively go with either.
Creditors will be Lloyds TSB, C&G, Citi and M&S CC - Not all mine i may add but will both be going for the same account.
I did have a Barclays CC years ago, but paid it off with +£20 credit still on it (I mean not owing Barclays anything they had £20 extra) so would that in effect affect anything?B&SC - 3370 -
Then you should not have a problem then, I opened my Cashminder account 10 weeks before I went to court. Bear in mind that the coop cashminder account will give you internet access whist the Barclays will not whilst you are BR.:pB&SC No. 298

Thanks!

Ahh right. In that case i would prefere Co-Op then. Will it freeze when i go bankrupt or just continue as normal?
Thanks for the advice dojoman! :beer:B&SC - 3370 -
Natwest are not BR friendly at all so I personally would abandon those accounts. The Coop account will not be frozen just tell the OR it is for your everyday needs and you will be fine.:pB&SC No. 298

Brilliant! Thanks dojoman! I shall be opening a co-op account and getting everything sorted then. That's one less worry now!B&SC - 3370

Hi, sorry to hijack this thread, dojoman...do you know if Natwest Step account would be able to remain open? I dont owe Natwest any money at all. I have opened a Co-Op one in anticipation, but really love the instant way the natwest one operates, Co op are soo slow to show transactions!Natwest are not BR friendly at all so I personally would abandon those accounts. Personally I wouldn't take the risk. If they are not one of your creditors then it might be ok.
My suspicion is that if the or doesn't advise them then the account won't be closed. I'd be surprised if they check against the insolvency register.0
