Boiler insurance cover for vaillant ecotec + which to choose?

I'm looking into getting boiler insurance cover for my 4 year old vaillant ecotec plus 824. I've never bothered with boiler cover before but after just having to spend £216.50 on having the diverter valve replaced which took 1 hour labour I thought it might be worth having it covered. It also took 3 weeks to get the part so at least if I'm covered there might be more chance of them having the part on them or at least get it easier.

What I'm wondering is who is the best to get cover with? vaillant or homeserve?

Homeserve have a sale on at the mo plus I could get £35 cashback on top by going through a cashback site (if it tracks) but would it be better for me to go with vaillant even though they work out a little bit more plus I wouldnt get the cashback as they arent on any cashback sites. I cannot be without hot water or heating and cant go through waiting 3 weeks for parts to come but is there any difference between having homeserve or vaillant insurance cover?
Thanx

Forget Homeserve unless you have a wish to be always stressed and pay for nothing other than incompetence.

Vaillant will always send one of their group service engineers, who will have 95% of spares on the van, with overnight delivery if they havent.

    Thanks,

It is a bit confusing though because on the offer letters I get from vaillant or at least I think its vaillant as its got vaillant and the motif in the top corner it does say in small writing on the reply slip

    'please pay homeserve membership ltd'

    and post to

freepost rlyc-lxal-geeh, homeserve, cable drive, walsall, ws2 7bn

They have been sending me offers since my 2 yr guarantee ran out after I had the boiler fitted. it states on it at the top my boiler installation date, the date the 2 yr cover started and when it expired.

So I'm confused as to if this is really vaillant or if its the same homeserve as topcashback site?

They must contract the work out to homeserve then, Which is strange they usually have a number of local engineers who are valliant specialists.

Agree with GAS4YOU - vaillant know their own boilers inside out whereas homeserve are local contractors without the knowledge of modern combi boilers.

Homeserve administer the Vaillant extended warranty, you still get the full Vaillant service and engineers out,

Does that mean homeserve have control of booking call outs and services but vaillant engineers do the rest or have I got it wrong?

The offer letter says £167.88 with anual service and £83.88 without it but doesnt offer anything for whole system. My local plumbing and heating company charge £50 for a service but if I am sure they will definitely be vaillant engineers every time with this cover I think the extra is worth paying for

I'm not certain of the route your call would take if you had a problem, but I would think you would end up with someone at Group Service (Vaillant repair division) booking the call.

We have a Vallant boiler which is now 30 months old. On buying the boiler, I bought what I thought was an extended warranty which is administered by Homeserve. However the boiler has just started making very strange noises and obviously has a fault. On ringing Homeserve I am told that in fact I am only covered for emergency breakdown NOT extended warranty. Therefore they will not respond, I have to wait until it competely breaks down (which hopefully it will do in the next 6 months). This is a complete con, I was strongly led to believe that I was purchasing an extended warranty from vallant but administered by Homeserve. Obviously I will not continue it after the three years is up, and would not recommend anyone else taking it out.
