Extreme muppetry - double insurance!!!!!!!

Emmmmmm, please don't shout or laugh at me, am extremely embarassed about this:o .

Have discovered that I have double inurance on house & contents....... Appears I had a policy with Norwich Union which I have kept paying @ 12.46 a month..... I have no idea how this has been going on as I can't find NU policy.... and statements only available for 1 yr..... but Esure was RENEWED in May 2004       . Then went to Lloyds via a broker in May 05.

Coincidentally, in this week's Sunday Times another muppet had done the same with car insurance...... The reply was 'in cases like this the industry practice is that each company.... should refund half its premium'. Does anyone know if I have any rights, is there any length of time I can go back, how do I go about this, would any other muppets care to share their stories?

Off to crawl back under stone......:o

    No, would disagree with that.

Did you manually renew the policy or is it a case of auto renew which you didnt know about? Some insurers will back date a cancellation to inception if you prove that you bought elsewhere and claim ignorance of the auto renew

  • ali, 007. Lloyds take care of my parents house insurance, they had a Royal Sun Alliance insurance. Last year Lloyds phoned and asked my dad if he wanted Lloyds insurance now...stupidly, he believed they were on top of things and advising him well, so he said yes. So, he found out last month that Lloyds had been paying both premiums. It is being sorted out now, and looks like Lloyds will reimburse all of the premiums from THEIR insurance, not the RSA one. Not that I profess to know anything about the industry, this is just what is happenning to my father.
