Getting Lactulose (cat laxative) out of clothes

My little cat had to have 3ml lactulose syringed into his mouth twice a day for the last 10 weeks, and I have ended up with spots of it on almost every pair of trousers I own, including work trousers.
Lactulose does not come out in the wash .
This is such a common laxative to use at home, I wondered if anyone had similar problems and knows what pre-wash treatment would work?
Most of the trousers would have to be washed at 40 degrees, although a few would survive a 60 degree wash.

I get it all over me when I have to syringe inpatient cats with it, or demonstrate to owners how to give it (cat usually shakes head and droplets of lactulose-y drool go EVERYWHERE:o really should get the nurses to demo-they are much better and much less messy than I am
) but have never had any problems with it not coming out in the wash. I use arial or persil bio if that helps at all? My tops are a polycotton type.
Not sure it that is useful at all-maybe try changing the washing powder?0 -
Actually I do use non-bio washing powder, so maybe that is the problem - thanks!
The little monster used to somehow block the syringe to divert the lactulose back out the side of his mouth, so I am dealing with the pure stuff and not saliva-diluted!
I guess twice a day for 3 months and I would learn a few tricks like that.
Annoyingly the other cats (who didn't need it) really liked it and would lick the pot I decanted the stuff into completely clean... so it was straight out the catflap for them!Learning to live with an IVA - no overdraft - no credit cards - no safety net - very very scary _pale_ All advice gratefully received! :A0 -
Does your cat have megacolon by any chance?0

Lactulose is horrible stuff. As a nurse we dole it out and when spilt seems to get everywhere and is soooo sticky. Have you tried rubbing your clothes with just normal washing up liquid then washing?Morgage till Nov 30 GOAL MFW Sept 2016Aug 11 - £100k Aug 2016.... It's GONE!!!!!
