What's Happened To My Halifax Paperless Statements?

My Halifax online banking switched over to the Lloyds style a couple of weeks ago. I have it set up for paperless statements (which I download to MS Money).

I get a paperless statement on the 15th of every money, but this month I didn't get an email to say I had one. I logged into internet banking and clicked on the view historic paper-free documents and it only shows a letter about my overdraft expiration. None of my previous statements are there.

Also when I view my recent transactions, at the bottom it says "You currently receive paper statements for this account. Would you like to go paperless?" When I click on the link it says it's already set up for online statements.

Has this happened to anyone else?

This was communicated via mail, and e-mail. There's also a dedicated page on the Halifax website (link below):-

The format of your paper-free statements will change. If you want to keep any of your existing statements in the current style, please print them off by the end of 2010.

Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.

That's cool (they're all in MS Money anyway).

But what about the one I was supposed to get on the 15th?

From January 2011 we will no longer send emails to let you know when new statements are available to view online. The new online statement should always be up to date with your latest transactions, so there is no fixed statement period.

Basically, your transaction list is your statement. The format change referred to in my previous post quite literally means, they no longer send a digital copy of your paper statements. Instead you have an "unending" transaction list which you can print-off or download.

Cheers. I suppose that will do for me. Just found the Export To option at the bottom of the statement, so I'll check it still works with MS Money tonight.

At first I found it a strange adjustment, but in reality the only use the digital print-off served was for ID/ application purposes, and I've yet to come across an organisation who would accept a "digital" copy of my bank statements - I've always had to order originals from Bank of Scotland.

I don't suppose it matters to mr fishbulb who is a frequent user of the lloyds site, but just to add, if you don't login for 3 months, then lloyds will automatically revert you back to paper statements by post again.

I don't think it's unending, hence the inverted comas. It doesn't specifically state on the Halifax website how far back you can go. I've just checked my Bank of Scotland account and I can go back to March 2009, so you appear to be correct.

Incidentally Lloyds TSB's almost identical offering allows you to search back as far as July 2002. I note that Halifax/ Bank of Scotland's new offering does not offer as comprehensive a search option as LTSB. I'd imagine this functionality will be rolled out over the next 18 months. Link to details on LTSB paper-free:-
