I ordered two very expensive dvd box sets from HMV two days ago and used the 10% discount code that is posted on another thread on this site (is also widely available on the web)
I received confrimation of my order, but when I checked my emails this evening they had sent me a cancelled order confirmation...see below
Dear *****,
We are writing to you to confirm that all or part of your recent order has been cancelled:
Order no.: ********
2 DVD JAMES BOND COLLECTION JAMES BOND COMPLETE COLLECTION GBP 134.99
Your order may have been cancelled for one of the following reasons:
1) You have cancelled your order via your account on the HMV website.
2) Your order has been active for 4 months, and has been automatically cancelled. We endeavour to obtain any items for a period of 4 months. However, after this period, it is unlikely that the goods will be received from the suppliers, and to avoid keeping you waiting indefinitely, we will cancel your order.
3) We have been unable to obtain authorisation for payment to dispatch your order for a period of 48 hours. You will have been informed in a previous email that we were having problems, and will have been asked to contact us.
If you have not cancelled this order yourself, or your order does not meet any of the criteria above, please do not hesitate to contact us.

I know that I have not cancelled this order as these were for Christmas presents and I am absolutely certain that there is no problem with the card that I used to pay for them..as there is plenty of money in the account.
I firstly thought...okay someone has obviously made a mistake and then went to their website to check what might have happened.
I could not believe my eyes when I tried to log into my account and a message came up saying that my account has been suspended!!!!
No reason why, just telling me to contact customer services.
I am as mad as hell!!
Anyone else had this treatment from them??

I've had crap treatment from them - see my other thread "poor customer service from HMV.CO.UK". I'd recommend calling them - they're not very good at emails it seems.0

I would treat this as they no longer required my business and act accordingly0

It could be a security issue and they have closed it until you contact them which i presume you havent done yet0

I had this last year when Id placed an order for a psp. It'd all gone through, then I received exactly the same email as you. I presumed it was because they didnt have any more psp's but found it easier to blame it on me than to say sorry they'd messed up
And then they suspended my account too.0 -
I guess it would have been nice if the OP had come back and let everyone know the outcome.
My first thoughts would have been a stop on the card because of the size of the purchase although when my CC company does that, they ring me immediately.
My daughter said yesterday she wanted to order from this site so an update would have been useful.0
