hi

my husband had a non fault car accident last Thurs. Third party have admitted liability straight away. We have fully comp ins from Admiral. As he needs a car for work they arranged courtesy car through Albany. The third partys ins company ( avviva) contacted us and offered to let us go through them but as we are with Admiral we declined. Am now regretting that.
the engineer has looked at car and written it off as Cat D and offered 1600. We need to buy a like for like car as we need it for our disabled son. We have found a car we want which is 2000. We explained this to Admiral and the garage we are buying the car from emailed them telling them it is same spec, age, mileage etc as ours was. Admiral have now said the engineer wants 5 more examples of cars the same spec as ours at that price:eek: and that it will take weeks to sort.
As we need to buy that car asap we decided to accept the 1600 and put the 400 to it ourselves.....however they are still saying it can take 2 to 3 weeks to get cheque! So we ae going to have to stump u the cash to buy car ourselves until the cheque comes.
We have now looked on here and seen the reviews and problems with Albany contacting people years on wanting car hire money as 3rd party refusing payment. This is worrying.
we should have the new car in 3 days and will cancel car hire and send car back.
We are wondering if it is too late to ring Avviva and go with them as it would seem Admiral and albany are totally useless and inept. It could still take weeks for us to get the cheque to pay back the money we are using to buy this car
I was thinking it may be too late as surely it is them who are having to ay the car fees as the 3rd parties insurers.
It is just a total nightmare
