part time work and working tax credit

Hi everyone!

just wondering if anyone can help with my query.
My OH was paid off from full time employment last month, he has filled in the forms for JSA and signed on, awaiting payment.....anyway he has been offered a job but its only part time 21 hours pr wk. Is he ok to take this job and claim working tax credit also or will hmrc make him look for a full time position to avoid him claiming wtc? I work part time 10 hrs pr wk and we have a 3 yr old.
also if he gets any JSA paid and he starts this pt job does he have to repay JSA or does he just sign off??

thanks

As you have a child you only need to work 16 hours per week to be eligible for WTC.

This will be going up to 24hrs between the couple with one working at least 16hrs from April.

ETA - He will have to inform the job centre when he is starting work in order to sign off. He will be paid by the job centre upto until he starts work.
