A friend of mine has copied some of his home video onto a dvd using his dvd recorder. He now wants to make back-ups of these using his computer. I have always used Nero but he wants to know if there is any free software available for doing this? He said a no-frills program would be fine. Many thanks in advance for any help!
ps he's using Windows XP

Cheers for the replies, but the guide on the videohelp site refers to dvd decrypter which apparently has been taken off the net. Deepburner will only write video dvds if you buy the pro version, and cdburnerxp says its video-dvd burning capabilities are limited. Sorry to be a pain!
Anyone got any more ideas?
I can't seem to find anything free via google, and my friend won't take my disk of Nero because I own the license - very honest of him!0 -
Let me get this one straight , your pal has a dvd of home movies , which will not have ANY copy protection on it , if that is so then the free copier will work as will any legit burning soft that supports dvd burning.
Dvdecypter was for bypassing the copy protection , although it can be used to backup copy free dvds like home movies in iso , or file mode.
To use the free software , put dvd of home movies in and you should be able to copy it....unless it isnt a home movie , and thats where its limits lie.0
