  • Halifax were hell with me and I only owed them a small amount in comparison to my other debts. They threatened all sorts. They didn't accept but passed the debt to their in-house collections, Blair Oliver Scott, who did accept the dmp but it took 10 months of games with Halifax before they passed it on.

  • Hi, thank you for replying. Nationwide rang me today asking me to increase my payment. I explained I simply dont have anything more to give other than what CCCS have offerred which is £7.98 on a debt (CC) of £1800. They say they cannot accept this, will continue to charge interest & will default me after 60 days & pass to a debt collector. Im not sure what to expect when that happens. Im actually really frightened about the consequences of this. Do they call to your home? Do they continue to charge interest? I havent even heard from them re the OD of £800!

As above poster said, it's not a bad thing to be passed to a debt collection agency. They will generally accept the dmp, freeze interest and not add any charges so I would suggest you let Nationwide pass it on as it will probably work in your favour. Defaults are common on dmps as you are basically breaking the terms of your original agreement by making reduced payments, not sure there is anything you can do about a default.

Do not let them have any more money than you are paying via CCCS as this would jeopardise your dmp and will open a can or worms. Other creditors may look at it that you are favouring Nationwide and reject your dmp.

Creditors are mainly full of hot air. It's unlikely that they will send someone round and they will usually write and let you know and there is a letter you can send to stop them. That said, a creditor did send someone round to me, but he got told to sling his hook in no uncertain terms (I'm female and live on my own) so I think they thought they could intimidate me.

Try not to speak to them on the phone any more and if you do happen to speak with them on the phone, give them your CCCS ref no., tell them that they should be speaking with CCCS and that you will only deal with them in writing and hang up.

    Good luck.
