Dmp

Hi all,

Ive just started a DMP with CCCS & just wondering if anyone has had any success with Nationwide or Halifax? Ive a loan with Halifax, CC & OD with Nationwide. These are the only two creditors im waiting on hearing from. Nationwide are wanting a little more than what CCCS have allocated them. Just interested in hearing your views.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

  • Halifax is one of our largest credit card creditors and wrote back within a few weeks accepting our DMP but with 6.1% interest. Not ideal, but better than the 29% it was before.

  • Hi
They will always want a little more but just pay them what you can afford as per your DMP
They will accept eventually and if they dont just keep paying

    Hi (to nervous)

I am a few months ahead of you on the DMP journey. I haven't dealt with Nationwide but I have with the Halifax.

With them I have a 5k overdraft, 2.5k on a credit card and £750 left on a personal load. Each has been dealt with differently - the loan was given to a debt collector agency straight away, the CC I had a letter asking for the full payments to be reinstated, the OD I had a very sympathetic letter asking for further info. All of these actions I think took around 4-6 weeks.

The debt collectors were fine to deal with and accepted the DMP offer without query.

The result is: the DMP payment has been accepted on all three, and these are very small payments. I have to say that the people I dealt with regarding the OD were great, really pleasant. They explained the process and said that I was doing the right thing, getting help etc. I also had some money paid into my old account by accident, after my access to this had been withdrawn, I asked for this money to be given back to me, they arranged for this to happen at the local branch.

Waiting to hear from people is the worst. We started this back in Nov, we are still trying to get sorted with Barclays and MBNA.

Hang in there and don't be too scared of the creditors, they are dealing with hundreds and hundreds of these situations every day, might be worth ringing them if the silence is bothering you.

    It does get easier.
  • Hiya im currently on a DMP with CCCS and Nationwide is one of my creditors!! I owed them £330 and for the first few months they said they were not accepting my dmp payment! However they then passed it on to a debt collection agency,Moorcroft and they have accepted my monthly payment!! So everything fine now :)
Time to stop wasting money and start saving some!! :T

    Hi

I don't have anything useful to add but just wanted to say hello and well done for getting your DMP setup.

I'm going through the same process as you right now and had our first acceptance letter this morning. Halifax is one of my creditors too, heard nothing at all from them. Not even a letter to say I'd missed a payment.

    Good luck x

    Hiya

You will find that creditors treat individals differently. I have real problems with Barclaycard for example but others have no problems. Others have problems with MBNA, they have been ace with me.

Good luck, stick with it and things will settle down.

  • Hi, thank you for replying. Nationwide rang me today asking me to increase my payment. I explained I simply dont have anything more to give other than what CCCS have offerred which is £7.98 on a debt (CC) of £1800. They say they cannot accept this, will continue to charge interest & will default me after 60 days & pass to a debt collector. Im not sure what to expect when that happens. Im actually really frightened about the consequences of this. Do they call to your home? Do they continue to charge interest? I havent even heard from them re the OD of £800!
  • Hi Nervous,
Don't be too scared of this. Most debt collectors seem to be accepting DMP offers. Your payment amount is not dissimilar to one of ours on that amount, so it's not unheard of. Also, the debt collector isn't going to suddenly turn up at your door out of the blue. We are dealing with 2 debt collectors and from both we had quite detailed letters, then we got in touch with them explained the DMP situation, got CCCS to send our stuff through to them and both accepted the payment (that had been refused by the creditors) without query and they are not charging interest. It is frightening but don't feel pushed into making a larger payment - CCCS have worked it all out fairly, you are paying what you can afford. If Nationwide ring again just explain this and tell them to talk to CCCS if they have any queries.
