picking the right account ?

hi all,
just wanted to pick all your expert brains,
what it is l want to choose the right bank account for myself,
what it is l already have a current bank account with halifax , which mine and my wifes wages gets paid into , what l want is an account that l can get my wages paid into instead and that l can control solely,
what l want to do is dripfeed my halifax current account with money now and again and try to save as much as possible as l'm a good saver but the missus is not ! so any help l really appreciate it !

Having read your post I feel that it does not matter which bank account you choose. The overriding issue is that you are taking a wise step to protect yourself from your wife's overspending. You should make sure that the Halifax account is in her name only.
Have a joint account just for household expenses and an agreement that those funds are not used for anything else. If she reneges on this then alarm bells should ring loudly.
On the issue of which bank you should choose I think that with HSBC/First Direct you cannot go far wrong. All the bestMoney is a wise mans religion0 -
