Young Drivers/Comparison Sites

We all know how difficult it has become trying to get insurance at a sensible price for young drivers and just thought i'd share my latest endeavour at trying to get insurance for my 19 year old son.
Last night i went on various comparison sites putting in all the details ie 19yr old male, licence held for 11 mnths, unemployed, car - Renault clio 1.2 1995, fully comp, me as a named driver and my first quote came in at £3994, after picking myself up of the floor I then tried different permations like part time work, full time employee etc etc. The quote finally came down to around £1600 but that was with him being employed and as I do not want to commit fraud I left it at that.
Tonight I tried again with renewed hope - moneysupermarket & go compare all coming back at around £2500 to £3000. I then went onto confused.com and putting in all the correct information got a quote for £1587 with admiral!!! Went back onto Moneysupermarket & Go Compare, same details exactly and admiral came back with quotes over £3k!!!! So double checked first quote and as I couldn't get through on their web site to buy, phoned up. again went through all the details, yep all ok so insurance now sorted.
What I don't understand is how come there are such a difference in quotes from the same company????
Anyhow if you're a young driver try confused.com, hopefully you'll have some luck like me.

I had the same but found comparethemarket worked out the cheapest for us. I got a quote with Admiral and kept on checking it every couple of days to see if it had changed. Admiral suddenly disappeared from the list and when I went onto their site to retrieve the quote, it came up with we had to phone them, so be aware if you do keep checking back.0

We've just been round the houses for our son, he is just coming to the end of his first year of insurance.
The broker he was with came back with Aviva at 2.2k. Aviva direct was just over 1.2k, admiral at 1.3k. The comparison sites were all over the place so i ignored them.
On the suggestion of someone on this site I tried Adrian Flux, they undercut Aviva direct by................ going to Aviva.
Try them....0
