Thomas Cook Holidays balance 14 weeks before!

I've just had to pay the balance of our Holiday to Ibiza 14 weeks before we fly.
OK we were told the final balance due date when we booked in November, so no problem with that. But now when I do the sums it's 14 weeks!

I can remember when it was 8 weeks as standard :( Now they have my money for an extra 6 weeks of interest!

Is this normal practice now?

    Dave, unfortunately yes it is.

Depending on exactly how / what / who you booked, some operators are asking for payments 12 weeks in advance, and with thsi the travel agents ask for it a further 2 weeks in advance in order to cover forgetfullness, and bank processing times.

Rumour has it that one major tour operator will be asking for full payment at time of booking, irrespective of if you book 6 days, 6 weeks or 6 months in advance.
