DVD program Player?

I have a computer (laptop) with a program called Cyner link. it playes DVDs etc. I have copied a dvd to my desktop but when I try to play it from the hard drive It asks that I upgrade and pay etc, to get a key code. Is there any free program out there that is good to use to take the place of this DVD player burner etc?
