johnalexwood, their reply is basically trying to frighten you.
True though, they may close your account. You must make alternative arrangements before you start the process in case this happens. Open a parachute account, you don't actually need to move anything yet.
The OFT take a dim view of banks closing customer accounts after charges have been reclaimed, but seem to have done little about this practice.0 -

You can send your next couple of letters to the branch that you bank with. I recommend sending any post by recorded/registered delivery so you can prove they received it.
When you get to issue the court papers. You claim form should be made out against Nationwides registered address.
