Hi all,
I have been meaning to ask for advice on here for a while now, so here goes.
Today I have checked my credit score and I have a score of 350.
I know why this would be:
Back in 2007 I left my job, where I was there for over 4 years.
I graduated from University in 2004 and paid my Uni fees and loans off.
I had another job lined up, but to get the job, I was in need of a Car.
So I bought one using a finance company.
The job fell through about 3 weeks later, and I was left with no job and no means of paying for the car.
I am a web developer, so I set myself up with a website, and that helped me pay a few installments of my cars finance.
But I was out of work for 8 months, my savings had gone, and I was thinking about applying for Job Seekers, I applied for it, and the next day I found a job in a Pizza Shop. So I cancelled the JSA.
Anyway, I kept paying my installments and such, I did keep payments regular but some times they would be a day to a week late.
I stayed at the pizza shop for 6 months untill the owner wanted to sell up.
I am now a self employed website developer working from home.
I have two defaults, one for 02 and one for Santander (joint account with my mum)
Everything else is Satisfactory.
I have tried to apply for a intrest free credit card to repair my credit report as one of Martin's emails suggested, but it was cancelled as I already had a Capital One card.
The problem is I do not have a CapitalOne card and I am trying to get them to reinstate the current application.
I would like to know what I can do to repair it further and faster.
I have £1,500 ish still left to pay on my car, and I would like to get a loan to pay my car insurance and my two defaults which are both under £450.

By what you've said i think you would struggle. You definately want to get the cap one situation sorted. So did you have a card with them or was it a failed application or one that didnt go through?Fleet Air Arm - 800 NAS - *Nunquam Non Paratus*Showing the 'Crabs' how its done for over a hundred years!Tesco loan, £4,000 over 3 years - £138 p/m6 months 0% bicycle finance - £60 p/m0

I would not struggle, as business is good at the moment. And I have a secure line of work coming from two companies I freelance for.
I have never had a CapitalOne card ever, I think I may have applied for one previously but nothing ever came through. So it must have cancelled.0 -

You need to contact CapOne and sort this out.
It might also be worth your while checking all three credit reference agencies and ensuring that the information they hold on you is correct, and up-to-date.

Do any of the credit reference agencies have any information about previous CapitalOne cards?0

Well I checked Experian as I used it before, and it had the last Capital One check on there, so I guess its up to date.
I also only used experian as they are the ones most companies use to check on people. Who is the best or official company?0 -

Bumping is Just posting on your thread so it goes to the top of the board. And to answer your question about CRA, different lenders use differents ones but it is my understanding that experian and equifax are primarily used. There is a good thread on here, by UNDERGROUND, that details which lender uses who. I have used it my self with great successFleet Air Arm - 800 NAS - *Nunquam Non Paratus*Showing the 'Crabs' how its done for over a hundred years!Tesco loan, £4,000 over 3 years - £138 p/m6 months 0% bicycle finance - £60 p/m0

Moving it up the list of posts - so more people can see it.
Check the other two credit reference agencies (£2 for statutory reports). They can all hold different info on you, and it's better to be sure that the info they have on you is correct.

Its annoying they all charge £12ish for membership when all you want is the report.
Charging monthly and every 3 months is not something most people would like by default. This leads me to think they are not reputable.0
