  • i have been to es cana about 15 times now, first time was back in the late 80's with my mam and dad. We used to stay in the Caribe but now we manage to get a private apartment so haven't stayed in there since 2008.

The caribe itself is adequate. nothing flash but it just depends on yoru expectations. I personally think it is a good hotel and is in a good location close to the beach. Although to be fair in es cana all the main hotels are close to the beach as the resort is not very big.

There is a hippy market in es cana every wednesday and that day you will see hundreds of visitors to the resort. Its a good walk out, about 10 minutes up the road, just follow the crowds. Loads of stalls selling different things. People from other resorts on the island pay to go to this market as part of a trip so it must be worth seeing.

There is a road train which parks on the front outside the panorama hotel, they do a couple of good trips. One takes you to a couploe of nice little beaches just 10 minutes away. Buit you dont get much time to settle. We hired a car the last time, well worth it. Plenty of little beaches and one day we did an island tour, just drove to every main resort. With the island being small we managed the whole perimiter with time to spare.

There is also a daily ferry boat which will take you to Santa Eulalia, the main town in this area. This is a decent trip out for the day. You could also swap ferrys at santa eulalia (same company so just buy the one ticket fron es cana to .....) and carry on to Calla Llonga or Ibiza Town.

We always go to Ibiza Town on a night time. It is nice during the day but different on a night. Nice walk around the castle and then a nice meal in one of the restaurants. A definate buzz around the place.

Day time in es cana. You obviously have the pool at caribe but the beach is just at the end of the road. The last few times I have been there has been a problem with jellyfish, only small ones but still something to look out for. Its not a problem just to es cana, we went to portugal last year and the ones there were huge! You have the normal sunbeds and brollies which from memory cost 5 euro each so can be pretty expensive. We are used to slumming it as we always hire a car and go to different beaches so we just take our towels down and buy an umbrella on the first day we arrive and use that for the kids. Some nice bars at the back of the beach too, great for a nice relaxing break. Recently the resort has been very quiet imo so there is no hustle and bustle.

There is a few modern bars around the area now, depends if you are there with kids or not. Jacarandas, right on the corner of the harbour where the ferrys arrive and depart, has gone modern and trendy.

I could go on and on but wont, love the place and my kids now love the place. My parents are off out there for a month in June, lucky beggars. They like it so much they normally go three times a year. We are heading back there next year, america for us this year, but the kids are desperate to go back.
