Can anyone help
I'm at my wits end. I have been receiving carers allowance for my 11 year old son who was up until 24/12/10 registered as disabled due to life threatening breathing problems. His DLA is reviewed every 2 years they have not renewed his DLA although is condition is now actually worse than it was 2 years ago. We now have to wait for a tribunal that will not be heard until at least the middle of August. My carers allowance and income support will stop on 28/2/11
I was advised by a welfare rights officer that i will now need to apply for jobseekers allowance. This will entail signing on and proving that i am looking for work. I was sacked from my last job due to having to take time off to care for my son I also ended up in hospital due to exhaustion.
I am still my son's full time carer nothing has changed but I am really worried because I am just not in a position to hold down a job.
My son has missed 40% of his schooling, the school are unwilling to administer his medication due to the side effects.
May I add that my son's condition is not restricted to term time. The welfare rights officer is confident that his DLA will be reinstated in August as I have the backing of his GP, consultant,school and physchologist. Can anyone out there help with any other benefits I could claim rather than jobseekers allowance.
