Fredrickson

Hi,

I've had a quick look at some of the other threads but don't see one pertinent to my situation.

I am a discharged bankrupt. For the last few days however, I have started to receive text messages from Fredrickson and today, I got a letter.

The letter asks me to get in touch but doesn't state why, citing data protection.

Googling suggests they may be chancers, but, I'm not really sure what to do. Get in touch or not? They haven't left any messages.
They just keep texting and today was the first letter.

Any advice on what to do please? Does anyone have any exp of them, that have been in my position?

Thank you for any help.

I would just ignore it for now.

Unless they can write saying exactly what it is about, then it's just "fishing". They're obviously not even sure that you are the person they are trying to contact.

    Ok then, Thank You.

For now I'll ignore. I suppose I just wondered why they are getting in touch when I no longer have any debts. And an discharged. I figured they'd be able to see that I'm discharged, from my BR date.

Just guessing though, because I really don't know why they are fishing even!

    Thanks again.

The thing is, creditors and collection companies buy and sell debts without properly checking to see whether a debt might be covered by a BR order.

So it's possibly that they don't have clue that you were BR, or they don't care and think you might be conned into paying. Either is quite possible.

I see! Thank you Fermi, least I won't worry as much now! I really couldn't understand why they were contacting me. I get texts every day!

Thank you very very much, tigerfeet. I'll do the credit file thing. I'd been meaning to sort that actually, and I was discharged end Nov 2010 - So should really have done something about it by now.

    Thanks both, for the help.
  • hi guys

had a letter from these guys today. i owe O2 £23.71 apparently.

it's pre-bankruptcy and, i didn't include this in my bankruptcy. hadn't a clue i owed this money. should i just pay it?

i moved from the address this applies to. and didn't file br till the address after.

would it just be easier to pay this pls?

It's covered by the bankruptcy, in a strict legal sense you mustn't pay it.

Although for £23, I can understand the temptation.

Officially you should just tell them that it's covered by the bankruptcy, inform your OR and let them deal with it.

  • i was discharged on 27th nov 2010, fermi. do i still need to contact OR?
  • and to add, i didn't include O2 when doing the papers/forms for BR because i was unaware of the debt, as i'd moved.

You should do, yes, even though you are discharged.

The OR can then write to Fredricksons and tell them that the debt is covered and that they should "back off".
