just renewed my car policy . last year fully comp only £84 so i added legal aid and no claims protection total cost £119 .
this year , i was told insurrance gone up by an average of 30%
when i quirred why mine policy had in creased by 88 % caould answer why ???? only minimum policy £150 , but that did not aswer why with out no claims protection it was still over £180.00
shop around . now with mcsa through sun alliance and paid only £154 with no claims protection and legal aid

I think they are all trying it on.
I renewed mine in November at approx £300 fully comp, I rang them to change the address (moving 3 miles) and they wanted another £139!
(higher crime rate area so they said) what bullsh*t, it doesn't justify a 20%+ rise that is for damn sure.
I have got a few more quotes and they don't come anywhere near (£250 ish, cheaper than my present policy!) for this new postcode (ok a larger town, and I expected an admin fee, but it's not downtown Beirut, the falls road or moss side!)
It'll be £18.09 to cancel the policy, so I've left it as is until I can find the NCB letter and then I'm off and will cancel my DD too.
Swiftcover: shame that, as I've always had good service up till now.Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.

I would not say that the insurer mentioned in the original post was 'trying it on'.
You have to ask - if they sold 1000 identical policies at £88, would they make an underwriting profit or loss on that pool of risks?
Clearly the answer is no, not even with abnormally low claim frequencies and severities.0 -
Any premium under £200 is frankly dirt cheap and shouldnt be complained about sorry

Just like our Home insurance with Direct Line went from £354 to £628 this renewal.
You just have to shop around now.0 -
