Car Buyers Inspection Service
About to buy a second hand car - found a suitable make / model / price & have agreed with the seller that I'll have a proper inspection done before parting with my hard earned cash.
I know I could 'ask around' & probably find a friend of a friend mechanic but... if they miss something (major) it all gets a bit tricky & I also don't necessarily get the benefit of proper consumer protection. So, upshot is I've decided to go for a formal inspection through one of the majors (e.g., AA / RAC etc.).
Crux of the post therefore is... has anyone had an inspection done recently & at what cost ? Also, is anyone aware of a 'comparison' service so I can see prices all summarised ?
Help !

View my post HPI check. Had one done with the AA couple of years ago. Good service don't rate the HPI checks though0

AA no longer offer this facility.
But, I'd suggest getting the guy/garage who you use for servicing, check it for you.
Failing that, if you've not got a mechanic already, try & find an independent specialist, in that make of car. Then you'll have someone who knows what to expect to find wrong, more so than just a 'general' mechanic.
& so you know what to expect from the car, http://www.honestjohn.co.uk clik in Car By Car Breakdown
An HPI check is worth considering, if it's more than a few hundred £
