car accident, advice much appreciated!
I was involved in an accident when I had my car parked outside and this guy driving a BMW crashed into my rear and my car crashed into the car in front, so both my rear and front bumper was damaged. The guy said he wanted to deal with it privately but trouble is he is offering less than the damage he caused, reason being if we do this through insurance company most likely what will happen is they will write my car off, which is the last thing I want as what am I going to do with a few hundread quids with no car? I need the car to get to work. So I think I am being ripped off as the guy knew I don't want to do this via insurance company. Having said that I am not sure if my car will really be a write off. the damage costs about 250-300 but my car still sells for around 500 on 2nd hand market, so it is a close call. What should I do? How should I deal with this guy?
Many thanks!

Go through insurance. If its written off buy a new car with the payout. They should pay fair market value.0

As suggested, go through your insurers.0

Go through his insurers, not yours.
Get his detals, if he won't give them you, get them from askmid.
If you need a new front and back bumper on a £500 car it will be a write off. If your company do it they will charge you the excess, and cancel your policy as well.
If you go through his, they may just pay out for the repairs, or you may negotiate a cash payment less than the write off value to let you get it fixed. You will have to tell yours for information only if you do this.0 -
How is he dealing with the damaged that was caused to the car yours was pushed into? If thats going through his insurance why not just put both through?IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

His insurer (who you'll be claiming through) will very, very likely offer you a free hire car until your car has been inspected and a decision made (can take a while).
I had a very similar situation last year (parked car accident, claiming on another's insurance) and I got offered ANY car I wanted from the hire car company.

As above ignore the guys offer, use the insurance for what it was intended. He is not offering you anything to your advantage;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
