cuddly toys

Options
De-cluttering the house and have loads of cuddly toys. Does any one know where I could donate these to in the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire area. They are in really good condition and would like them to go to new homes where they will be loved!

Tried local charity shops but not interested.

  • Really? I thought local charity shops would have snatched them off you? What about a local school for their easter/summer fair or as raffle prizes? I know barnardos & the salvation army usually ask for donated toys etc around christmas, and there's always thoes "shoebox appeals" if any of them are small enough. If I were you i'd just ebay them (there's an option you can click that donates the money straight to the charity and displays a little "ribbon" next to the listing to show its fundraising for charity).

What about a women's refuge or a local children's hospice - poorly or scared children always appreciate a little something to cuddle.

How disappointing that the charity shops didn't want them! I used to volunteer in one and I can tell you we wouldn't have been able to say yes fast enough. Have you tried ringing a few charity shops because I wonder if it was just that the ones you tried had just had a large donation in, or maybe the staff got it wrong? It just seems so odd to refuse such a great donation!

If you like ebaying then ebay's a great option, you can pick out of the different charities and decide which one you want. If ebay's not for you then you could ring your local family DV shelter (search here[/ur] and also try your local barnados service or children's hospice. There's lots of people that would be thrilled and grateful for these :)
  • snap charity shop in pinxton will take them!
PM me if you want me to come and pick them up, meet somewhere in middle or something, we are just off junction 28 on m1, but I'm always out with the kids.

Theres also a woman in Mansfield who has a dog/animal rescue that is always looking out for teddies for tombolas etc to raise money.

It's so sad but these days people do not want to buy a cuddly toy for 50 pence. However any donated to our Cats Protection are sold via Reclaim who recycle them into fleece filling and we get paid per kg. Also this year at our Summer Fete the teddy tombola is back by popular demand!

If you've got kids that go to a school that participate in bag2school or similar fundraisers, they will take them.
