Email Problems

My dad's friend who has an aol email account keeps getting messages for my dad for some reason. My dad has an ntlworld email account which seems to suffer from getting lots of spam. Not only that but my dad seems to be getting messages for other ntlworld email customers. I'm wondering if some sort of virus has got into my dad's email account and is causing this problem.

We have avast antivirus running on our machine which seems to regularly update itself so I would have thought it not possible for virus to have done this.

Anyone got any ideas as to what is cauing this and how it can be rectified?

You say that your dad 'seems to be getting messages for other ntlworld email customers.' I think I would start from there, that obviously shouldn't be happening and is something for ntlworld to sort out. He should phone them. After that, and depending on what ntl do, he could do an online virus check at
