Scottish Power price rise bills - those leaving

A quick point to those of you that elected to leave Scottish Power [and sent/indicated by letter/email] indicating you did not accept the new price increase announced on 25th November 2010 [as you are permitted to do; as regulated by OFGEM]. Scottish Power sent me bills since this date that used the new prices, although they previously acknowledged and accepted I had declined their price rises. It seems their systems are not able to automatically make the retrospective adjustments. It was only as a result of me pointing out to them their bills were now using the new prices, and my insistence they honoured their agreement to use pre 25th November prices, that I was able to get them to re-calculate my bills. My understanding is their systems are unable to do this automatically and has to be done manually; no small task and would recommend those in this situation check their bills/or confirm Scottish Power have correctly billed them before moving to a new provider!

I suspect the inability of 'The Computer' to do this automatically is the reason why lots people have this problem with all the Utility companies.

It seems to apply to all companies.

In the past I've had issues with Eon & BG as well not keeping the old rates.
Also had an issue with SSE (ebico) and because it took them too long to issue the correct bill, I managed to get away with not paying the final bill at all :)
This time SSE called me to say bills will reflect the higher prices despite my refusal to accept them. They said any adjustment will be reflected as an adjustment on the final bill (which is essentially what they did last time). We'll see...
