Hi - Im running an `99 S40
I`m afraid the remote was used to lock up there car ( from outside )whilst the engine was still running ( with the other key ) - now the drivers door dosent lock anymore from outside with the remote ( all other doors do ) - but it does look as if its locked ( lucky in some ways ) as the button is down the same as all the other doors that are locked
any help appreciatted - thank you

Im calling "red herring", I suspect it's been broken for some time and you just haven't noticed/checked it.
I don't think ive ever checked the door handle after remote locking my car.
If the door pin looks locked then the fault is most likely mechanical, ie the linkage broken to the lock mechanism. I don't know of any car that has separate actuators for the lock and the door pin.
If you go to a garage/dealership with the info you posted above, you'll probably have them chasing their tails and calling you an idiot.
In my line of work it'd be like someone coming to me and saying "I cleaned my mouse ball this morning and now Word won't save any documents".“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
