redundancy issues

hiya guys, I work within a government contract and was informed yesterday that the contract may not be extended at the end of April and so I am at risk of redundancy as is everyone else within the contract. We were originally told that we will be tuped over. We have now been told that this will not be possible as our contract will finish at the end of April and new company contract will start two months later. Is there anything which allows people to be tuped over, even if there is a two month gap between end and start of a new contract? Also what else should i do to cover myself? Can i ask for extra payment for any holiday i have not had? I have been with the company for two years. Does this mean i will only get two weeks wages as my redundancy payment?
Any help will be great
Thank you

Not sure I understand everything, not sure I can help if I did.
But if you can clarify
Who do you work for? (goverment, company doing a goverment contract)
Whats your employment contract. ( full, fixed term other)
Are they proposing any changes to the term and conditions?
Are they using all the same people for the new contract?
Is the new contract differen to the old one or essentialy the same?
One option might be to do a temporary lay off to give continuity of employment and keep people on for the renewal.
if you are redundant,
Statutory redundacy is 1 week per completed year(1.5 years over 41) capped at £400pw
All acrrued but untaken holiday should be paid.0
