Please bear in mind that you mightn't have electricity sockets in your room! We hunted for a socket recently in a hotel room to recharge our phones and the nearest one was on the landing! Maybe it was to prevent people recharging items. (When you think of it I suppose it must add up if everyone is doing it) the kettle, hairdryer etc were wired in!
Interesting thread by the way, lots of good ideas thanks.

    Check the shaver socket?

I've so far got butty gear, pot noodles snacks type things, crackers, cheese, fruit, yogurts, coffee...bits and pieces like that.

How will you keep the refridgerated stuff cold?

There will be Sainsbury and Tesco stores very close by so why bother to cart that sort of stuff with you?

    Enjoy your break.

Sorry missed this before you went

We did croissants, brioche or similar for breakfast or those little packs of cereals and just buy milk daily, I usually popped it in a sink of water overnight to keep cold.

Most £1 shops do sachets of coffee ready made, usually imported nescafe or poundstrecher/instore and other discount shops do the disposable cups of coffee/hot choc/bovril etc in them for about £1 for 10 which saved on washing up too.

Food - we had breakfast, got the kids a sandwich or similar lunch (we don't tend to bother) then ate out most evenings. Most foods we've had at travel lodge are cold, tool paper plates and bought some ready roast chicken and a large pasta salad bowl. Cheaper than eating out, could do the same with ham etc
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb

The fish & chip shop next to the Waterloo travelodge (Masters Superfish) is seriously amazing. If you eat in you get a free plate of little prawns to start, plus pickles. Get the mustard-dipped fish - it's fab!!

I'll second that, one of the best fish & chip shops/restaurants in London:D

Borough Market can be expensive but there are usually lots of things to try especially on a Saturday if you can stand the crowds.Wholefood markets in Kensington sometimes has "tasters" too-according to my daughter who could write a book on how to get free samples

We never pay for breakfast in a travel lodge. I usually check online to see if there is a Wetherspoons nearby. Their breakfasts are quite good value and they do things like porridge now . If not we take things that won't spoil. Aldi do some individually wrapped brioche which we like and we take individual cartons of juice.

We usually take a bottle of wine-with a screw top-and some snacks for the evening too.

Triker, if you are in the centre of London, near to Leicester Square, then you cannot beat value for money food at a Chinese restaurant called WongKei. I believe it is in Gerrard Street. You will get a meal for two plus as much Jasmine tea as you can drink for under a tenner.

This is my most favourite restaurant, in fact we are there tomorrow for dinner :j definately excellent value for money. They are famous for having the rudest waiters though I've never found them that bad!
