Thursday 17th February - What small DFW things will you be doing today??

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:D
Gooooood morning everyone:j Wooo the weekend is in sight...not that I'm wishing the week away or anything;) But it's half term next week and I need the rest as well as the kids!
Ok, bit later today, sorry about that - my girls have an inset so with only myslef to get out the door, I don't need to be so early. Just work today, then back home and try do some of my assignment...said I'd hand it in tomorrow:o
So - hope all well...when will we see DNMS's cheery face again?! Lovely to see CLeosmum again....and all of you other regulars:D Kel - fingers crossed for results in 6 weeks, you'll be fab;)
Ok must crack on, here's my list:

Good morning all. Pixie - thanks for starting the thread. I'm not sure if DNMS is away for one week or two. If just the one, she should be back any day now!
I'm at work already, putting in 1.5 hours overtime this morning, and another hour after work so I ought to get cracking really!
So far I have:- had filling porridge for breakfast

- made a lunch for work
- DH gave me a lift to work using his diesel
- check surveys throughout the day

Had a really rubbish sleep last night -was awake most of the night - boo!
Have a few things to do today...- Phone Sky to see if they can reduce the payment at all after reading quite a few positive stories on MSE - worth a try
- Phone mortgage repayment vehicle people to see what the total is at the moment - think its just under £20000 - thinking about swapping mortage
- Find house insurance docs to see when its due for renewal - want to pay outright next time instead of monthly so need to see when I need to budget for the £150 or so its going to cost
- Do some school work
- Put dry washing away
- Take dog to park
- Take dog to vet about his eyes later - think he may be getting cataracts - hope not - poor pooch
- Checked banks

Morning!
Started to post yesterday but got distracted and only got as far as good morning!
Today I have/will:-
- Checked banking -
- Ordered friends birthday presents from Next, delivered to store to save delivery charge (2 minutes up the road from my work)
- Try to work extra hard today as I need to sell £2000 a day labour
- Snacks in from home
- Dinner at DM's house - she doesn't know this yet I don't think....
- Try to work out a way to cover the £175 I am short next month without using my *now empty* credit card. Although £60 of this is put aside for my car tax so really it's more like £115...plus DB3 will buy 1/2 the food etc for the month and by food budget is £100 so really it's more like £65...which is more doable. LOL :rotfl:
- Sparkle, definately feel like it! :-DNothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!0 -

Phoned Sky after reading the positive stories about getting the price reduced and managed to go from £55ish a month for TV (including sports), broadband and phone to £36 a month for the lot!
That's a saving of £20 a month for the price of a 5 min phone call - am well chuffed! They didn't quibble at all and actually offered it to me :j:j
Also called Legal and General that I have the mortgage repayment vehicle with to confirm how much the plan is worth at the moment and it was a bit more than I thought it was - £20600.
My mortgage is for £90000 so if I cashed this in and paid it off the balance it would leave me with a mortgage of £70000ish which I'd then switch to a basic repayment deal. The bank offered me quite a good deal last time I was there so this may be worth thinking about?
Also called the tax office and they agreed that I have overpaid by about £220. Its a bit convoluted to get it back in the next few weeks but if I wait until April it will be paid back automatically so I may just wait until then if the phone call to my last employer for a P45 is not fruitful.
So, for the sake of a few phone calls I now pay £55 a month less on Sky and mortgage payments, will get £220 back from the tax office:T0
