Warm Front warning

I've just had a grant of £3500 to fit in a new boiler from Warm Front because I am on DLA. The surveyor who came around told us we were just in time as in the next year the money allocated to Warm Front by the government would be halved then the following year it would be stopped.

My advice would be, if you are entitled to anything from Warm Front then get in there now because it will be much more difficult if not impossible very soon.

I didn't think they were doing any more this year (from end of december). When did you apply for yours?
  • ah ok, it was sometime middle/towards end of last year, we just got the boiler fitted last couple of days. I didn't get the impression it had completely finished from the surveyor, he just said what I said in the OP. I could be wrong though Just checked and it is a temporary stop and they are taking applications again after in April.

I do remember they were very busy and couldn't keep up, that's probably why they stopped taking applications for a while. I would get them in as soon as April is here then!

be careful when the installing company offer additional work --i had a boiler fitted and some radiators but needed one extra due to the budget limit--i had no idea how much a single radiator cost and just accepted their quote--300 quid for just putting a rad in --no pipework or anything!--i wasnt with moneysaving ex then!!

  • Thanks but they've been great. No offers of extra work, no extra dosh, two days working and really polite. Couldn't recommend them more.
  • You have to keep on at them to get things moveing I applyed in July 2010 had survay 3 week later then nothing untill Jan 24 this year when they told me they had appointed a instaler ....They came down and undertook another survay .now they have deviated from the original survay and need permision from warm front to do the new revised work ........Like I said keep on at them or be prepared for a long wait

i applied last june. had the loft/cavity wall insulation done in the last 8 weeks.
a heating man came round for a survey just before xmas. said i needed a new bathroom radiator, 2 new valvues on 2 other radiators and a system flush to sort out my tempremental hot water. as only they radiator was on the initial survey, he had to go back to warm front to ok the additional work. havent heard anything yet, but if i phone all i get told is ' it takes time and you will be contacted in due course'
i havent phoned again as it seems unreasonable to complain about something i'm getting free.
  • Nannytone,
It wont do any harm to ring them as I rang yesterday and was informed that they will get back in touch with me in 3 week........10.30 this morning they rang and told me they will undertake the work a week on Friday.....Happy days

nanny just imagine the savings on your bill and the reason for doing insulation is to save the planet as well--for all the grand kids

    Beware of Warmfront.

    Google them and see.
