    What`s the mortgage on £230k?
For some it's peanuts. A lucky few are paying 0.5-1% so it'd be about £200/month interest only :)

£900 if you spot that it needs paying back.
  • £230k for a flat in Leeds. The estate agents must have nearly choked with laughter.

    Precisely.

I really doubt it lost 70% of its value.

Someone was mugged off to pay far too much for it in the first place.

I dont know about Leeds but here in Newcastle.

Lots of BTL flats are 50% original 'sale' price. Infact there is a block with a 100% reduction. No-one is going to buy a flat where it rains down the walls.

I don't live far from Newcastle. There are loads of developments in the town and by the quayside. All hugely over inflated price wise.

It is like the legacy of Poulson and T Dan Smith all over again.

    Article date: June 2008. :D

When we know supply exceeded demand.... You may remember a bit of a crash following that. ;) And then the number of houses on the market fell to 600,000.... And prices rose.

Besides, the number of homes on the market is not a good indicator of whether or not society has enough houses.

Most people selling will need to buy another house.... Swapping houses around does not really make much difference to a housing shortage. Only building new houses can do that.

Rightmove's monthly survey, due to be published on Monday , will reveal a 21% increase in the number of properties coming on to the market in London, while the market in the rest of the country is "frozen over

Just been on the phone to my roofer nephew. He was telling me they are getting about 3 days a week work. He is on a site where they are erecting roofs and then the developers are closing the site due to lack of sales. This is in the south east.

He needs to get into private work.

I had to wait 4 months - November 2010 until February 2011 to get a flat roof replaced - also in the South East - getting tradesmen to do work has been a nightmare.

Plumbers for bathroom & toilet refurb - end Nov to 7th Feb. (First free week)

Fascias & guttering Nov till Feb.

Next we will be looking for an electrician to do a bit of wiring - I'll let you know how long we have to wait and how long it takes us to find one willing to do the work.

    C'mon pobby.
With all your time away, you must know plenty more people struggling than that you can tell us about.
What about the ones all about to go under from before?
