Help with car insurance

Hi everyone,

I've just posted this in the motoring board too...

Just bought my car insurance from More Than, then saw that I could've got a much cheaper deal with another company

I've read More Thans cancellation policy and I see that they may charge you a £55 admin fee if you cancel.

Has anyone else been charged this before?

If you want to cancel there is work to be done and costs involved, there has also been cost already with you buying the policy. Because you want to cancel they are charging you for that cost. £55 is a bit high by industry standards but not unheard of.

If the policy has already started to run there will be some charge for time on risk.

Next time, shop arround before you buy.

Two insurers I know of that don't impose a cancellation charge when you take advantage of the cooling off period are RAC and M+S. (They just charge the premium pro rata for the day(s) you had on cover.)

They might be useful to consider if you need cover whilst shopping around (or any other very short term cover - eg to get a tax disc.)
